A graduate of The Johns Hopkins University and New York University, he teaches Creative Writing at Rutgers University and is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of German at Duke University.

Kirk’s non-fiction book Unsolved has been published in six editions in the US and UK. His poems have been widely published in literary journals and in The Early Word, a Burning Deck chapbook.
