LASTING GLANCE
by John Dutterer
To: A.

Like a cat's eyelids---permanent

or a napkin flapping

its wings beneath

the shell of the breeze

or consideringhow

glass can choose what

to reflect

and

with full knowledge

of how shadows slide away at angles

from supposed source of lightage

(Sunday lives and dies

like all days)

then no wonder

the glass

in silver-blue

shows

how I

am turning

to stone
