the day the universe forgot how to be round and the earth went cubical in a square orbit and turned one quarter turn four times a day the oceans roared over us in huge square waves until we were all coffined and the only thing left of us was this piece of rectangular paper with its o's still intact what we missed the most more than even stars bells balls eyes they hurt when they cubed even more than we damned picasso to the square root of hell we missed zeros no more zeros and the mathematicians asked us how we could ever make it without them and we never found out
